*

You get further as
I draw closer as
You whisper words
That I never thought
I’d hear again

You get closer as
Days grow longer as
You say to me what
I don’t want to know

I get further as
Night draws nearer as
Birds draw wings over
Tired eyes

I get closer as
Those wings draw nearer as
The night draws the curtain on
You

i like this, it reminds me of a skipping game in the rain, only painful.

and on a more intelligible note.....that sense of agonising distance regardless what is close to hand.
and "Birds draw wings over
Tired eyes"
is simply perfection:)

Good. It's brave to put up poetry as you go. Must go back through your previous work.

Hey Ben, a response to this poem:

Winter cloisters
the paw and familiar breath
furs my fear uncured
how could you hear

Spring now my affections
tendril curl unfurl
my dress breast unrest
you wont listen

Summer tires
dragons flies
the sighs and cries
too tired my eyes

Now your grasp
breath rests recedes
I will escape forward

Lush, lush; Beautiful, beautiful.

We should collaborate sometime, Mr. Australia.

Lush, lush; Beautiful, beautiful.

Gorgeous poem. I enjoyed how well the propelling "flowed" (flowered) throughout.

Nothing squandering here...
